Today's SCS challenge is to use vellum. While I had not been using much vellum in the past few years, I did have taken it out to show a customer not long ago and ended up using it on a couple of cards I was quite happy with.
The first card is one that I shared in my last post and which was initially inspired by a Dolce & Gabbana ad in the March issue of Vogue. ( You wouldn't believe how many card inspiring notes and dog-earred pages I have in that issue). The ad features fun, white, non-formal dresses practically dripping with rhinestones. My notes mention Vine & Blossoms (a SU wheel), black craft ink and Iridescent Ice embossing paper on white. Well, I picked up a scrap of vellum before tring it on white and this is what I ended up with:
I've always thought that SU's vellum cardstock required a white or colored base but I really like how it looks with the Ivory Naturals card base and Very Vanilla taffeta. The subtle contrast is perfect for a wedding.
I used the mini glue dots to attach the vellum to the card. I hid them under the 3 smaller flower and in couple of places under the ribbon.
"For the Newlyweds" is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. There are a couple of good choices for the inside greeting with this. When I did this card for the WOWswappers I used Happiness Always from Happy Greetings which is in the summer mini catalog. The wedding greeting from God's Blessings also works. As I mentioned the other day, Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon is being retired. I'll need to try this with Very Vanilla seam binding. If it works I might use it as one of my convention swaps - shhhh!
Another way I've used vellum recently is to calm down a watercolored chair from Peace Within that I felt came out brighter than I intended.
The Square Lattice textured piece is River Rock and the Card base and seam binding are Baja Breeze.
Let me know what you have done with vellum lately.

gorgeous!
