16 years ago today, Valentine's Day 1991, I went into the maternity floor only to be greeted by a nurse telling me that they had a nursery full of baby boys - "almost enough for a football team" she said, challenging me to beat the 9 plus pounder already in there. I told her that I'd already had that weight beat on a previous delivery and besides I was anticipating our 3rd girl. Well, needless to say, my SON did turn out to be the biggest on that particular football team weighing in a half ounce shy of 10 pounds. And, he did turn out to be a pretty good football player - though he's concentrating a little more on his basketball game this time of the year. I've never been one to put my kids into gender roles but this kid was All Boy!
"Enough of the family chit chat", you say? "What does that have to do with stamping?" Well, I don't think my son has done much stamping since just before he started 1st grade when I twisted his arm to help me out at my first open house right after I became a demonstrator. One of the sets in my starter kit was Have a Ball and he showed a few of my friends how you could stamp the football repeatedly without inking it to make it look like it was moving through the air. He even showed "huffing" to remoisten the stamp. Not much more stamping for many years ... until this week -
A couple of nights ago I got to spend some time with him at my stamping counter...STAMPING! Some friends of his had admired a very cute card, made by Eva Davalos for the WOW Sell-A-Bration swap, on my display board and, since I wouldn't part with Eva's card, he was determined to make one like it. The card shown here is Eva's though his turned out very well too!
As you can see Eva's card is not exactly a quick card - (and she had to make 38 for our swap!). Lots of cutting, tying etc. I was very impressed with her patience, and my son's!
If you are still in need of a Valentine card and have a little time, this is a fun card to put together. The big heart balloon is actually a few petals of Big Blossom attached to the Taken with Teal layer with dimensionals . The little heart balloons are from Sweet On You and are attached with mini glue dots. My son attached 3 balloons with silver cord first and added the others on top of those. The FOR YOU WITH LOVE circle is from Riveting and is hand trimmed. Attach this to a 1 1/4" Taken with Teal circle and add white dots with a gel pen and layer again onto a 1 3/8" Close to Cocoa circle.
Designer Paper is Loves Me; coordinating colors are Regal Rose, Close to Cocoa, Taken with Teal. Grosgrain ribbon is Taupe. The base card is Whisper White.
Thanks Eva, for letting me share your card today!
Happy Valentine's Day to you all!
