Since today is Monday, it is Technique Lover's Challenge day over at Splitcoaststampers. Today's challenge is to make a pocket card. A sample and directions by Michelle Wooderson are also linked from the challenge announcement. The directions are pretty straightforward and easy to follow. I challenged myself to come up with another card showing off this luscious Loves Me paper. I really find that giving myself boundaries to work within helps me focus my work...or should I say focus my play? In this case the dots in the paper gave me a theme to build the rest of the card around.
Aside from Loves Me paper this card features Love Without End, Riveting, Cool Caribbean, Regal Rose and Taken with Teal cardstock, Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise inks, Chocolate Chip marker, Flirty and Rose grosgrain ribbon, Punches include: horizontal slot, key tag, 1/2", 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches and the corner rounder - this time used to actually round the corners. If you have been following my work for very long you might recognize the corner rounder as my scallop maker. Oh yes, the polka dot band is from the Petals and Paisley paper collection which will also be part of a March special which focuses on Spring Mini catalog products.
A couple of other notes: I don't know if it is easy to see from my photo ( I took at least 12 before I got one where the colors looked close to my card) but there is some subtle sponging here: Cool Caribbean on the edges of the Caribbean layer and Chocolate Chip on the edges of the pocket. Another little detail is the frayed grosgrain that I used to tie around the teal velvet ribbon on the tag. Another example and hints for fraying ribbon are here.
Well I'm headed over to post this for the Splitcoast challenge and look at everyone elses' pocket cards.
PS. Can anyone guess what tomorrow is?
