I know I usually try to post projects that use current Stampin' Up! supplies but I came across these the other night as I was setting aside the Sell-A-Bration cards to make room for some new Spring Mini samples. My stamp club did these and I was so happy with how they all turned out.
We used the patterned cardstock paper to make the criss cross card according to Michelle Wooderson's directions. Before attaching the side triangles to the bottom we added trim from the Simply Scrappin' kit, Just Delightful. Just put the trim on the diagonals that show. By doing this you avoid having a ridge show through the right triangle and you will have more than enough trim if you use one strip from the kit. Use coordinating trim again across the top of your pull-out card. The trim I used here is actually the "leftover" piece in between the Celery green scalloped lace strip and the Regal Rose "zigzag" strip. I thought it was very delicate looking. If you use all the in between strips you will get 14 more strips of trim out of each kit! The slot punch makes it easy to thread through a bunch of short coordinating ribbons tied with some white organdy. I usually prefer to use organdy or gingham when I'm tying up bunches like this. They tend to be more flexible, easy to work with, and give a finer knot. The flowers are from the kit and the words are from It's Your Birthday. You can't see it in this view, but we used a corner rounder on all of the lower corners of the pull-out card.
This was done much the same way as the first but I do want to point out a couple of things about the trim.
- I cut the green scalloped lacey trim in half the long way so that it was straight on one side - and this gave me twice as much.
- Look closely at the trim on the top of the card: its' a row of numbers which goes so well with this message: "Life is not a matter of counting years, but making years count". - also from the It's Your Birthday set.
I know that this set is no longer available but I'm hoping that some of you have it in your stamping stash or can apply a few more tricks to other Simply Scrappin sets or other trim.
Thanks for visiting; I really love reading all the feedback I receive from you in comments and emails!
