One of my favorite challenges over at Splitcoaststampers is the weekly CAS Challenge. CAS stands for Clean and Simple. The challenges have a lot of variety and even though I don't always post a card for it I usually check it out for inspiration. This last week they have been having challenges to choose members for their fall design team/guest designers and I decided to throw a few cards of mine into the ring.

The last challenge was based on the phrase "You've been boo-ed!" which is from a May basket like custom which was new to me. Though different interpretations of the phrase were allowed, I thought the whole idea was really cute and wanted to stick the the ghost idea. But, though I must have thousands of stamps there was not. one. ghost. I did, however, find a boo that had spider webs in the "o"'s. (I'm really not sure about the punctuation on that one!).
So, I took some additional inspiration from a ghostly mirror in last year's October Martha Stewart magazine and tried my hand at drawing a ghost into the corner of a black card front. I used some advise I often give in classes when a card calls for coloring or freehand lines or something. That is: work fast as the slower you work the more it looks like you were trying too hard. It probably took less than 30 seconds. I cut the ghost out, embossed the web with my Big Shot, adhered it to a Whisper White card and added the eyes and surprised oval moth with a black marker. Though I considered adding the "boo" to the front I decided that the card was cleaner and simpler if I left it off the front and used it on the inside instead.
Oh, yes! I saved the cut out ghost. If I decide to do this one in a class, there will be a ghost to trace.
