I became acquanted with Loll Thompson's artwork a few weeks ago on Pinterest and started following her blog. When I saw that she was today's Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers I knew I had to find a little time to join in.
The card I chose is Rose for a Friend, since I already had a bunch of embossed flowers and centers punched out from Quint-Essential Flower. Loll's simple and striking card was the ideal inspiration to get one of these babies on a card.
Once I had cut the scallop square I had doubts about using SO many scallops. When I looked at just the scalloped flower on the scalloped square it really seemed like overkill. But since time was tight I just went with it. After I applied the piece to the card it didn't seem as bad as I imagined. Now that I sit here and write, it is growing on me.
- I used dimensionals behind the large scallop flower and the scallop square.
- I used a black retired journaling marker to make the black dots on the large scallop flower. I need to replace my regular Basic Black marker. Its writing tip would have made neater dots.
- I colored the birthday letters with Calypso Coral and then used the writing tip of Poppy Parade on one edge of each letter.
