There are many ways to use color blocking in your art work. Here are a few:
Color Blocking with Ink I played with a the new Coastal Cabana In Color along with the returning Pear Pizzaz and Bermuda Bay for this variation of a color blocked card for this week's Ways to Use it Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.
- I started by cutting rectangles into a copy paper mask (3 times), laying them one at a time over a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, and sponging ink into the rectangles. I started with Pear Pizzaz, followed by Coastal Cabana, and finally Whisper White craft ink. (ETA: the technique I used was very similar to the way I make a cereal box stencil. I just used copy paper instead of a cereal box and varied the measurements)
- After drying the white craft ink I stamped the flower stem (Field Flowers) with Pear Pizzaz. The two toned flower, also from Field Flowers is Coastal Cabana with Bermuda Bay. The greeting is stamped with Bermuda Bay.
- The stamped layer is popped onto a Very Vanilla card base.
Color Blocking with Paper There is also a color block challenge over at the Creative Crew Challenges. Here is one of the cards I did for that June challenge as a part of the Creative Crew Team:
- In addition to Coastal Cabana, this card also features Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Sahara Sand and a tiny bit of Bermuda Bay behind the Basic Gray.
- The black embossed Dayream jumbo wheel image is embellished with rhinestones.
- Forever & Always is a greeting from the Loving Thoughts set.
Why don't you try a card with color blocking?
Thanks for looking!
