I'm back with more Botanical Blooms projects.
I made the first card when I was playing with the Botanical Builder Framelit dies (#140625) I mentioned yesterday. I had wanted to try the pieces out in white with sponging.
I grabbed a few rolls of the Botanical Gardens Designer Washi Tape (#140586) and my color scheme grew from there: Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey. I layered the Washi tape to create a little border. The possibilities seem endless...
The fern shaped leaf is die cut from Mossy Meadow (#133676) as is the smallest flower center piece. The other leaves are stamped and die cut with Mint Macaron (ink - #138326; cardstock #138337) I stamped a little detail with Whisper White Craft ink (#101731). The Whisper White(#100730) flower is sponged lightly with Soft Sky(#131181) to help it show against more white card stock. The larger center is also cut from Whisper White and then sponged with So Saffron(#126957) I tried Hello Honey but ended up wanting a softer look. The shower greeting if from the stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes (W#128748, C#127802).
I really liked the color combination so decided the Botanical Blooms Stamps (#140757) needed a little bigger work out than simply stamping with the die cuts. Then I remembered this project from years ago:
I sent it to Stampin' Up! up way back in 2000 after making an number of gifts ... and earning a cruise by demonstrating this box and cards during Sell-A-Bration that year. No, that is not a spelling typo. Stampin' Up!'s annual winter promotion used to be called Sell-A-Bration instead of Sale-A-Bration. I was also lucky enough to have the project published in Stampin' Up!'s Portfolio II, Book III. I posted my version of the directions on this blog several years ago. Yes, I've been around Stampin' Up! a long time, almost 20 years!
I used a mask to leave the white border around the card. The mask is made by cutting a 1/2" frame out of a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of copy paper. This is pretty easy to do with the Stampin' Trimmer (#126889). Add a little 2-Way glue and let it dry before setting it onto your card. This will help it stay in place while you stamp. This stamp set is perfect for this type of one layer card. It's also a good way to get to know a new stamp set. If any of your images don't turn out just perfect you just add another image over them. Don't forget to add a little detail and stamp the envelope flap!
Here is the box. The top and bottom are each made of a full 8.5 x 11" piece of cardstock. I usually just stamp the top and use a solid color for the bottom. Though I've made it with the cutter scorer in the past, the Simply Scored board (#122334) is really slick. The box will usually hold about 8 regular sized cards with envelopes, depending on how much you layer them, of course. I used Mint Macaron Dotted Lace (#138424) to tie the box along with Whisper White Baker's Twine (#124262) to add on the tag which was punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper (#133324).
Here is a close up of the tag. which uses many of the same products of the card explained at the beginning of the post. The Birthday greeting is from the Suite Sayings (W#140709, C#140712) set.
Thanks for sticking it out to the end of this rather long post. I hope you are enjoying winter (??). We are, now that everyone in our family has finally made it back home (NYC and CO) after the holidays. Daughter #2 spent last night in the MSP airport waiting out a snow storm but luckily she got a flight out this morning.
