I'm back with a plan to post about three times a week. I have posts planned for about 2 weks so far and I hope to keep it all organized. Today I'm featuring the hostess set, Feathery Friends, from the 2017-18 Stampin' Up! catalog.
First up: Playing with Peekaboo Peach - I stamped this cute, fun to color image with Smokey Slate, colored them with Blush Blossom, Peekaboo Peach and Lemon Lime Twist and then outlined with darker colors, Emerald Envy and Melon Mambo.
The circle and scallop layer are cut with the Layering Circles framelits and layered on to Whisper White card stock embossed with the Brick Wall embossing folder. I tried the outer Peekaboo Peach layer a couple of times. It is easier to assemble layers that are bigger like this:
It takes a little more care and time to add skinny card stock borders because your placement really has to be just so. But compare the look I get when I take the time to add a skinnier border. The wider border tends to overwhelm the skinny scallop layer. I knew this would happen but I was in a hurry so I tried it anyway. In the end I separated the layers and did it over to get this card:
Here's my second Feathery Friends card:
These bluebirds were for a tic-tac-toe challenge I recently did while playing along with a weeklong Dare to Get Dirty Challenge over on Splitcoaststampers. I’ve hardly ever used Pacific Point in my work until I used it for a color challenge I tried a few weeks ago. Now I’m pulling it out much more often. I think the full strength color is quite bold but using it with watercolor tones it down.
The greeting from Big On Birthday’s Greeting seemed perfect for the little conversation I imagined these birds having. I got the idea for the scallop from the petals on one of the birds and used the wave/scallop thinlet from Seasonal Layers.
Colors: Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie Bermuda Bay, and Pear Pizazz on water color paper; More skinny borders of Pumpkin Pie and it is all mounted on a Soft Sky card.
All supplies Stampin' Up!
Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back in a few days with a quintet of flowery cards.
