I'm apologizing because I'm posting some cards made with the Blended Seasons Bundle a stamp set with dies that were available this past August. I LOVED playing with them and posted these on Instagram and my gallery at Splitcoaststampers but apparently didn't find time to get them on my blog. I know that some of my customers have them and wanted to make sure that everyone could find the cards here too. Whether you have these limited time products or not, there are a few ideas that you might find useful.
- These were colored with the Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay Blends. I know that you aren't going to find a realistic leaf in Bermuda Bay but I was playing around with the color combination and I did quite like it.
- Something that I have also tried on other leaves is adding some of the brown shade to a brighter color like Bermuda Bay. It's kind of like it tricks the eye into believing that the unconventional color could in some sense be realistic.
- This image was embossed on watercolor paper in white and then watercolored.
- I just love the look of white emboss resist.
- My first ink splattering attempt was a bit heavy handed but it still works!
- This is a technique that I've done since Stampin' Up first started carrying nesting framelits.
- I cut a shape larger than my main image from a coordinating DSP, in this case a watercolory - is that even a word? - print with varying shades of Night of Navy and Shaded Spruce.
- Then you run it through your Big Shot again with a fairly detailed embossing folder. In this case I used Tin Tile, the same folder I used with the leaves earlier.
- Next, you light sand the embossed DSP so that the white core of the paper starts to show through.
- Combined with the lovely stitched edges of these framelits I think the look is simply dreamy.
- For even more texture layer it with another layer of Whisper White embossed with the Tufted folder.
Other examples of this technique: Apothecary Christmas, Twitterpated Happiness, Hopefully
While you can no longer purchase the stamps or framelits I'm going to list the other products that contributed so much to this look.
