If you have followed my stamping for very long you might know that I love to do what I refer to as "sloppy stamping". Basically it is choosing a few colors I like and stamping up a storm with several generations of images in a rather sloppy, not necessarily planned manner. The Colorful Seasons card I did last week is one example of this.
One of my favorite stamp sets for playing around with this is Abstract Impressions. Today I used it to whip up a few cards for the Global Design Project Challenge, GDP161:
The flower image stamping for both cards is done on Glossy White cardstock, something I should use more often. Usually I teach people to stamp very deliberately to avoid letting their stamp slide on the paper's surface in order to keep the image crisp. Today I took advantage of the slipperiness of the paper and at times slid my stamp around slightly.
You might even compare some of the background stamping that I did here to using a sponge to just add little touches of color here and there.
- The colors are those in the challenge: Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. Colors that normally make you think of fall. With this set I just think they make me think of a sunny day.
- This simple card is just a Whisper White Thick card base, a 3.5" x 5.5" glossy panel plus some skinny strips of Old Olive and 6x6" designer series paper in Regals.
- This next card is also based on a Whisper White Thick card base.
- The Crushed Curry stripe is from the same DSP pack. The Old Olive banner layer is textured just a bit with the Stitched Labels Framelits.
- The 1/8" Sheer White Ribbon adds a little glamour.
- "Thank You" , with that lovely font comes from the Kindness & Compassion set, a lovely collection of greetings and messages for those hard times in our lives and those we card about. We've made good use of it at our place.
Here is a photo of a card we used last summer:
The duck is from the retired set Wilderness Awaits. I pulled it out to make a card for one of my husband's colleagues a few months ago. When possible I like to design sympathy cards with the person in mind and this was for someone who liked the outdoors. The greeting is from Kindness & Compassion. As you can see it is a font that works with oh, so many styles. It is also unique in that it has messages for thank you notes to others for their their expressions of sympathy. If you have a Stampin' Up catalog handy it is on page 108 or you can check it out in the supplies list at the end of my post.
