Have you been bit by the Blends bug yet - or other alcohol markers, for that matter? I am loving the mix of colors that Stampin' Up has provided to us with the Blends but no matter your choice the stamp set Great Joy is perfect for coloring. The images almost look like they stepped out of a child's Christmas color book. Then just imagine the dimension that you can add with shading!
This is the first ornament I colored. What a fun way to get to know my new Poppy Parade and Mango Melody Blends!
With so much color going on here I decided to leave the rest of the card quite simple. Just a Basic Black mat with "love & joy" embossed with white powder on a scrap of Basic Black cardstock.

Paper Piecing Plus Blends
I think I colored this card in after the paper piecing but it would be far easier to do it first. Not too fussy as I wanted this to have a bit of a rustic feel - entirely different from the crisp clean lines you see in the unadorned stocking image.
The only Blends needed here are The Crumb Cake Combo. The rest of the color is added with two patterns from the Festive Farmhouse DSP from Stampin' Up!'s 2018 Holiday Catalog. (p.13). Well that, a good paper snips and just a wee bit of patience. With the clean lines of this image the cutting is pretty straight forward though. You will want to stamp the stocking on the plaid and the Mossy Meadow stripe. I did it twice on each in order to be able to vary the direction the plaid of stripes were going in my design.
In this close-up you can see that, besides the Cherry Cobbler plaid paper I also chose the Mossy Meadow with thin white stripes. As used here as a border to the plaid it almost created the illusion of stitches. This probably isn't a card you will want to mass produce but it will certainly fill the order from someone special, maybe a quilter on your list.
