... of you.
Who couldn't find a good use for a card with a message like that?
A little while back I talked about using an embossing folder to dry emboss a design into designer series paper. I had seen a photo of what looks like patterned mulberry paper that was both dry embossed and heat embossed with gold. Allyacards on Instagram is where I saw the photos. Aren't they inspiring? Kind of like a gold embossed image superimposed on another colorful background. I made a few sheets playing around with this and have gradually been turning them into cards. It isn't really easy because it is hard to cover up any of it. It turns out the messages from Part of My Story are perfect for this job:
- I used some of the papers from the Happiness Blooms collection of Designer Series Paper. I've found that this seems to look best by starting with a paper design that doesn't have white or cream in it. Even better, I think, is to use a pattern with a low level of contrast. Happiness Blooms have a few that fit the bill in both of those departments.
- The Swirls & Curls embossing folder that carried over from Holiday Catalog seems to provide a nice contrast to the somewhat striped design of this Call Me Clover and Night of Navy paper.
- After running this through the Big Shot, I applied Versamark to the raised portion and embossed it with gold embossing powder.
- After layering it onto a piece of gold foil and Mint Macaron card I actually let the card sit for a week or two - not wanting to cover it up.
- Finally, I decided to let most of it show by adding only a simple message strip using on of the Part of My Story Sale-A-Bration om the Sale-A-Bration set, Part of My Story. The little flowers are made with the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack and Night of Navy, Call Me Clover and Gold Foil scraps.
I blogged about this Valentine earlier but I'll show this shot again since it uses the same "double embossing" technique, this time with the Dot to Dot embossing folder, also in the Happiness Blooms Suite.
