Lovely Lattice is, well, pretty lovely. The beautiful blooms lend themselves to all sorts of coloring techniques and could even be heat embossed without doing any coloring. In this card I chose to do both.
- I embossed this pretty floral stamp with silver embossing powder
- I watercolored the image with an aquapainter and ink from my ink pad lids.
- The colors for this card were inspired by the current color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.
- Usually it's "safer" to watercolor on watercolor paper or even Shimmery White cardstock. I took a chance on this one and used Whisper White thick cardstock with minimal water and worked quickly so that the paper wouldn't pill.
- The sympathy message is from Itty Bitty Greetings. While this set is far from inexpensive, it has so many messages that cover just about any occasion. Even better, many fit in the smallest rectangle stitched die. You can stamp or emboss several messages, cut them out in one session and have a good supply that will work on all kinds of cards with no worry about messing up an almost finished card with a last minute smudged greeting.
- I layered some vellum cardstock over the gingham print to soften the color of the Highland Heather to that of my watercoloring.
- A layer of silver foil accentuates the silver embossing.
- I added a few tiny butterflies cut with the Butterfly Beauty thinlets. You could easily skip those but if you do have the thinlets it is easy to cut several out of white and have them ready to color as needed.
- Highland Heather Organdy Ribbon! Yes! This is back while supplies last as a Sale -A -Bration item that is free with a $50 purchase - in the US. If you missed getting this earlier this winter now is your chance.
