Yes, I've still been away a little longer than I'd hoped. Still stamping, still part of the Splitcoaststampers' Color Challenge team, still a demonstrator for Stampin' Up!
Today I'm back here to tell you about this week's colors: Blueberry Bushel + Real Red + Whisper White with a patriotic theme for dessert. Not only does my card use the challenge colors but I was also inspired by Splitcoast's Technique Lover's Challenge to make a floral tag card. I'm excited about how this card turned out and I hope it might inspire your stamping too.
The technique calls for flowers at the top of the card and the bottom of the tag. How fun and easy is that sound?
- I started by cutting 4 tags, thinking it might take a few to practice. I still have 3 white tags for another project. These images fall in place together that well!
- I used the small and larger flowers from the Floral Essence stamp set and stamped them in Real Red with Blueberry Bushel centers. This challenge allows us to add colors from Stampin' Up!'s neutral colors as needed so I chose Mossy Meadow to stamp some leaves, coloring them in with a Light Mossy Meadow Blends marker.
- I used White Baker's Twine to tie a little bow around the White Flax ribbon placed through the scalloped tag.
- I chose "here's to strong women" (love the sentiment AND font!) from the set of the same name for my bold message and decided to add a row of stars, also from that set to help with the patriotic theme.
- Moving on to the background piece, I stamped the same images at the top of a 5 1/2" x 4 1//4" piece of Whisper White. I later trimmed this to 5" x 3 3/4" and ran it through the Basket Weave folder for just a bit more interest. Why not make it evoke the idea of a Fourth of July picnic?
- I used a Blueberry Bushel layer cut 1/16th" (5 1/16" x 3 13/16") larger than my stamped layer to finish things off as I assembled my card.
Do you happen to be a member of the Splitcoast Fan Club? If so, make sure you check out the May and June galleries. I'm doing a 6 month stint as Dirty Girl, one of 12 designers for their private monthly Dirty Dozen Galleries. FYI: The Splitcoaststampers site is free for any stamper. There is also a gallery dedicated to Stampin' Up! cards. Anyone can post their artwork and you don't need a blog to share. Some members choose to support the site with paid memberships which then makes them part of what is called the Fan Club. It is these members who get to see the private gallery. I will most likely be posting some of that work here eventually, though it won't be for several months.
