Hello, everyone! It's the second Wednesday of the month which means it's time for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop. Please join me, along with some of my stamping friends from all over the world, as we share our favorite coloring tools.
Just in case you've been here before, maybe you know what my favorite coloring tools are?
Yes! My favorite coloring tools are sponge daubers and the way that I usually use them is to mix classic ink refills with craft ink refills and blend the different colors into backgrounds for my cards.
- The background colors in both these cards are Lovely Lipstick, Blueberry Bushel and Coastal Cabana. Though I sometimes blend onto other colors this time I used Whisper White. I usually blend these colors a little on an acrylic block and then starting with the lightest blend them onto a quarter sheet of cardstock with the dauber.
- I set them aside to dry for just a bit but it doesn't take long. Usually by the time I finish the second quarter sheet the first sheet is dry.
- This card shows what it looks like when you spatter water on the dried sheet.
- The lighthouse here has been colored with Blends markers.
- I usually like to use as much of the background as I can, often just trimming off a bit for a panel style card like this one.
Here is another layout I like to use:
- I attach the whole quarter sheet to a white card and then add a slightly smaller layer with some sort of frame, in this case a circle.
- I used one of the laser cut pieces in the Come Sail Away Memories and More pack to sponge some subtle waves on the upper layer.
- Once again I used Sailing Home images, this time a few sailboats which were also colored with coordinating Blends.
- A few Lovely Lipstick enamel dots (Happiness Blooms) finish off the card.
If you would like a few more details about how I do these backgrounds, here is a video I did a little over a year ago. The sets are retired or retiring but I'm just a little proud of myself for finally figuring out how to move a Facebook Live video onto You Tube so that I could share it on my blog. First time ever! It's about a half hour so feel free to speed it up or, better yet, stop back after you've finished the blog hop.
