I wish I had taken a picture of the simple card this started out to be. Just a beautiful black and white crisply stamped image on and black and white background (cut with the Ornate Layers Dies) and a Crumb Cake card. It really didn't need to be any more involved.
But it was a little cool outside and I grabbed a few Blends markers and this happened.
- I was just going to add some bright Mango Melody centers to the flowers ...and then I kept going until just about every inch of my once white layer was colored.
- A little Seaside Spray brushed onto a few places of the daisies to make them look "whiter".
- The shadows in the Soft Seafoam leaves get a little help from the Mossy Meadow Light Blends.
- Then I added some more Light Night of Navy to deepen the blue shadows behind the bouquet. Since I'd covered just about everything else I took to the rest of the background. It was easier than I thought to give in a nice painterly look, just with the Light Seaside Spray Blends.
- Now what? I had a bouquet I hadn't planned on with a lacy border that I might have left a little too big.
- Would more black help? I decided to go to the A Wish for Everything Bundle for a little help with the greeting. I layered 3 black "Happy"s with a white embossed on black "Mother's Day. That was too much black. One more thing. I die cut a Seaside Spray "Happy" and layered on top of the other 3.
- I think it worked. Well, that and a few Seaside Spray faceted dots. Just in time to pop it in the mail!
