I decided to take the soon to be released Blossoms in Bloom Bundle out for a ride with this week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. Barbara chose these fiery colors: Lovely Lipsitck + Daffodil Delight + Calypso Coral with "Thinking of You" for dessert.
Since I like a little white space on my cards, I was able to get 2 cards from one layered blossom.
- The Many Layered Blossoms Dies (#153582) have 2 large dies that can be layered and 4 small blossom dies that could also be layered. They coordinate with the stamp set, Blossoms in Bloom (#152684) which I used for both of the sentiments. I will show off the Distinktive stamps from this set in a future post. The stamps and dies will be available as a bundle (#154123) when the 2020-21 catalog is released in early June.
- For this card I cut the finer die from Daffodil Delight and one each of the thicker die from Lovely Lipstick and Calypso Coral. I set aside the Lovely Lipstick outline and used the "negative" pieces which were cut out to fill in the pieces that were cut out of the Calypso Coral. There is a way to use a kitchen storage product, Press 'N Seal to do this more easily but I did not have it handy. Without this, you will want to have a half sheet of cardstock to set the Calypso "frame" on while you fill in the pieces. When you have it filled in you can place a second half sheet of cardstock over this and carefully flip it over so that you can remove what started as the bottom half sheet and then apply your adhesive. I used Multi-purpose Liquid Adhesive applied with a quarter round sponge.
- Think carefully about how you want your image placed, then lay your half sheet of white cardstock over the die cut and press gently but firmly. Turn this over.
- Apply adhesive to the back of the Daffodil Delight piece and carefully place this over the Lovely Lipstick, Calypso Coral piece.
- Cut this into two half sheets or as desired. I cut one of mine down to 3 3/4" wide so that I would have a Lovey Lipstick border on two sides. You do need to take care in cutting these. A regular trimmer did not cut all the way through so after making the initial cutting line with the cutter I hand cut it.
- I'll be honest. Though enjoyed doing it, it did take some time. So, I used my Stamp-a-ratus to stamp the greeting. No way did I want to take a chance on messing that up!
- I trimmed a little extra off of this half to - to get the look I wanted. After attaching the flowered piece up to the folded edge of the card. I added a strip of Lovely Lipstick plus a few metallic pearls that I had colored with a Lovely Lipstick Blends Marker (#147028).
- All Lovely Lipstick products retire with the 2019-20 catalog on June 2 - or as supplies last.
- I'm anxious to try layering these dies over the stamped image that is part of the bundle. So many more ideas with this exciting bundle...
