After a week spent with my daughter I'm back with a card for this week's Paper Craft Crew sketch.
Now, I want you to know that you don't have to take the shapes "literally". In other words, the triangle can be another shape but I really wanted to look for something that would at least echo the triangle shape with the point down. I did come up with a few and settled on the ornaments from the Gleaming Christmas Bundle.
Here is it is:
- First, a note about the background in my photo. I'm always messing around with different backgrounds, usually sheets of DSP. Though I often use the wood prints from the In Good Taste DSP, this time I thought it might be fun to see how the card looked on this Poinsettia Place paper. I placed a sheet of vellum cardstock over it to tone it down and blur it just a bit. That DSP is gorgeous!
- I started by clear embossing the holly image 3 times on the upper part of a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock. I did end up adding a thin piece of Brushed Metallic (brass) paper and trimming it back down to 4" from the other side.
- After first trying some more colorful ornaments I decided to stick with the softer, more elegant look of gold embossing on Very Vanilla.
- The greeting was also embossing with gold. The smaller ornament is popped up with Mini Dimensionals while the other pieces were put in place with Multipurpose Adhesive.
- It's really a fairly simple card. I was surprised that the supply list is a little shorter than some of my other projects. It uses punches rather than dies. AND! It would be so easy to mix up the look by changing the Soft Sea Foam layer.
- It's a fun sketch. I think I'm going to try it with my other idea - the Press On stamp set with the coffee cups, also in the Holiday Mini Catalog.
