It's a Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood is the general theme for the September 2022 Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop with a focus on each participant's favorite place in the world!
I grew up in Duluth, Minnesota in the US and spent a lot of time on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Even though we currently live in a downtown Saint Paul high rise, we still spend as much time as possible at our "Sea Villa" up on Lake Superior. Even as I write this we are finishing up an extended stay up here as we celebrate our anniversary. As summer starts to change to fall, this is one of my favorite times to be here. Walks in the woods, time spent watching the ever changing lake and listening to the waves are just some of the ways we relax up here. With some recent rain we even found some waterfalls to visit.
Of course I usually sneak in a little stamping when I'm up here. I keep a cupboard of crafting essentials up in our loft. This trip I brought along Season of Chic so that I could work on a design team project I had for Splitcoaststampers weekly Color Challenge which included "nature" for dessert.
- So many current Stampin' Up sets relate to this area, from Adventurous Journey with its boat and kayak to Wildlife Wonder with some of the animals found in the north woods. I decided to bring Season of Chic for it's versatility and the fact that I love to explore what's in bloom along the roadsides and walking paths.
- The colors in our challenge this week are Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen and Rich Razzleberry. There is a lot of this razzleberry/orchid color popping along the paths right now.
- I stamped all of the die cut elements on this card on watercolor paper so that it would be easy to soften and blend out the colors a little.
- I decided to bring in even more nature by picking a small fern and inking it up with Evening Evergreen ink and pressing it into some Soft Succulent card stock. Yes, I have the fern folder and stamp but those are in St Paul and this a fun, if slightly messy, substitute!
I'm looking forward to checking out the neighborhoods "around the world" on our blog hop. Wont you join me in peeking in on them? Next up is Tricia Buts.
