Here is our talented group:
This month our theme is Never Ever Grow Up. I don't know about you but sometimes, when I'm being creative as a papercrafter I do feel like I've never grown up. That could almost mean anything goes. I do, however, have a project that fits this theme in a least a couple of ways.
Last week it was my turn to host the Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers where I serve on the design team. After a busy long summer weekend with family, I had put together the basic idea I had in mind for my colors: Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam (Add a blue if you wanted the dessert option.)
While it's a great baby card it wasn't quite what I had pictured:
- This card was pretty quick to make: the Blends coloring was simple and there was no fussy cutting involved. I added some texture with the Exposed Brick embossing folder.
- The Pool Party is used subtly in this card: as a thin mat behind the main image, a soft Blends outline around the stamped images and finally an extra layer behind the letters adding just a hint of the shadow.
- EXCEPT that these birds have even more potential than my simple pastel coloring shows. SO, I was a bit of a kid and went back to play some more...
- I added another bird so it gives the impression of a bigger family affair and played more with the colors. The Petal Pink and Lemon Lolly have so much more character when you let them play together! Look how they brighten things up. I think they just look like a much cozier new family.
- You could use the concept of masking to layer these birds and color them before embossing, but I simply trimmed them out with a paper snips and added them on to the previous card, covering the previous versions.
- So, don't hesitate to go back and "play" some more with your card. It's just paper - be creative!
Now it's time to move along the blog hop. I'm so excited to see that the talented Anne Marie Hile is back with us this month. Let's see what she has created for us:
