Today is the 2nd Wednesday of November and that means it's time for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! If you are already following the hop you have probably arrived from Shel Anderson's blog. Welcome!
This month we have a color challenge that came with an inspiration picture:
All of us are free to interpret this quite liberally so it should be fun to see what everyone else does. It struck me that there is some similarity between these colors and the inspiration photo and some designer series papers that recently became available in the Online Exclusives, Traditions of St Nick. My favorite prints are those that are fairly monochromatic and those papers have that in spades - on one side anyway. And, the colors are fairly close to the inspiration colors so I decided to see what I could do with them.
- I decided that I would start with some outline images that could be stamped directly onto the patterned paper. I had a few ideas and started with the whimsical looking flowers of Darling Details.
- Initially it seemed hard to get the colors to come together but the more gold I added, through embossing and a layer of gold foil The more magic seemed to develop.
- Adding the eyelet like frame, die cut of a monochromatic but highly detailed pattern, seemed kind of silly but it also seemed to carry on the character this little card was developing.
- The other set I thought of ... Birds Eye View. The birds are stamped, and I'm happy enough with the way this turned out and I think I'll give them a whirl another day.
Now it's time to get back on the blog hop. Next up is the talented Tricia Butts:
