Welcome back to this month's Around the World on Wednesday blog hop.
Our theme this month is March Blues and we have a great little palette to choose from:
I took inspiration from some of Stampin' Up!'s new Online Exclusives products: Simply Zinnia, Fun Pattern Embossing Folders, and White Glimmer Paper Specialty Paper. I took my color cues from the soft and lovely Balmy Blue Variegated Ribbon. It's so easy to make lovely monochromatic cards with paper, ink and embellishments that coordinate so well!
-
- This card is easy to adapt to any blue, or any other color you like for that matter.
- I used a basic 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base.
- The Fun Patterns embossing folders are narrow enough to work in the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss though you need to use the regular sized Stampin' Cut & Emboss to use paper that is wider than the machines opening, as I did here.
- I embossed 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" pieces of vellum cardstock, keeping the folder on the right side, with the left peeking out. Then I trimmed the cardstock to 5 1/4" x 4" before applying adhesive where the embossed vellum meets the unembossed vellum.
- After attaching this to my card base I tied the ribbon around the same area, thus covering any adhesive that shows through.
- I went on to decorate the card with a white zinnia cut with the Simply Zinnia Bundle and embellished with die cut pieces from white glimmer specialty paper. The greeting strip is also trimmed with the specialty paper and features a thank you message from Simply Zinnia.
Here is a close up of the detail.
Before I send you along the the next blog on the hop I'll share another version. The first card inspired me to make a few of these to swap when I head to Houston for Onstage, a Stampin' Up gathering with other demonstrators. I did this in Pool Party, one of my all time favorite blues, using the Magnolia Mood Bundle:
Now it's time to continue on the blog hop and see what blues Tricia has in store for us:
