Today I want to share a couple of Birthday Bonanza cards.
I used the Argyle embossing folder and a color combination of Pool Party + Mango Melody + Pumpkin Pie + Basic Gray for both of these cards.
- The character of this card got started when I "mistakenly" stamped the facial features of this lion just a little bit off center, giving an "uh, oh" sort of look.
- I decided to go with the expression and proceeded to make the hat look as though it was falling off the lion's mane. This actually worked better with the way the banners crossed the top of the tag. I colored a white pompom with the Light Pumpkin Pie Blends.
- I finished off the top of the tag by coloring the white seam binding with the Mango Melody Blends and the white Baker's twine with the dark Smoky Slate Blends marker.
- I stamped the balloon/circle stamp in Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie and little bit of Pool Party in the upper left of my white layer.
- In keeping with the stitched tag I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to trim my background layers. The Pool Party layer is embossed with the Argyle embossing folder before trimming it with the die.
Here is a close-up of my nervous looking Lion. Note that this lion has been stamped on Whisper White:
On my next card, I changed it up a bit by stamping my lion with the same pumpkin Pie and Mango Melody on Mango Melody cardstock instead of white.
- I used a color blocked background. I put the various colors together by taping them together in the back, then embossing with the Argyle folder and only then trimming it down size.
- This argyle piece is layered onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock trimmed just 1/8th" larger than the Argyle layer.
- A few Metallic Pearls, along with colored Crinkled Seam Binding finish this card off.
