I was planning to "just" post a bunch of cute Fruit Basket cards today but then I saw a today's Color Challenge, CC679, and Teneale William's adorable card and sketch from March 18th and decided to make one more card first:
First off all I even though I've made over a dozen Petal Palette cards I've yet to cut into many of the beautiful Petal Passions DSP. Since Teneale had used it so beautifully I decided to use her her sketch with the same dsp that she used but use the color challenge colors and one of the cards in the Tutti Frutti Cards and Envelopes Sale-A-Bration item that I already planned to feature today. Turns out I've been thinking the card is So Saffron but technically the SAB catalog refers to it as Daffodil Delight. Who knew? Though I think that it photographs slightly paler than real life it still looks more like So Saffron to me.
I used a blender pen with So Saffron, Marina Blue, Pear Pizzazz and Crumb Cake ink pads. I wanted to add Crumb Cake to the background so that it helped to tie the pattern into the envelope trim. The colored pattern paper is layered on to an ever so slightly larger piece of Basic Black card stock. The dots in the little dotted dsp are colored with a So Saffron marker.
Here is the color challenge graphic from SCS - you can click on it to go to the challenge.
Here is the original group I planned to post:
These cards play so well with the Tutti Frutti 6"x6"DSP.
I just love the apple and pear paper. I used it for my Hard Apple Cider card too.
I confess I had this layout determined long before I finally decided what to put in the circle. Don't think about it too hard - I don't know why you would really put cut open papaya in a basket???
The citrus dsp seemed to be calling out to be used on the Lemon-Lime Twist card and envelope so I pulled out my Lemon Zest set to finish it off. The Black and White stripe that I used between the citrus and green is also in the Tutti Frutti DSP pack.
I scored and "stitched" the square with the Basic Black marker. By stamping the watermelon directly to the card stock with Garden Green rind and punching them out with Lemon Lime Twist rind I was able to get two toned rinds.
This Pool Party birthday card was the first card I used. In all of these sets I tried to bring the color trimming the envelope into the card design.
