I'm back. A little traveling and my blogging just got put on the back burner...
I've got a couple of Little Ladybug cards inspired by this week's Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge: Basic Black + Real Red + Very Vanilla with "your favorite green" for the optional dessert.
I've been wanting to teach some masking projects so I started with the "you've got this.." card.
- "You've got this , girl", from Here's to Strong Women, is stamped with Call Me Clover, a classic green, inside a frame from Swirly Frames that was stamped in Memento's Tuxedo Black - on Very Vanilla thick card stock. I stamped a second frame on copy paper and cut it out just inside the outer lines to create a mask.
- I placed this mask over the first stamped images and proceeded to stamp a whole bunch of ladybugs and flowers from Little Ladybug, an adorable stamp set that is free with a $300 (US) workshop order.
- I used Blends in the challenge colors, along with Smoky Slate, to color in my little bugs and the frame.
- The finished card is 4 1/2" x 5 3/4".
While I was stamping the first card I noticed that it looks like one of the ladybugs is holding a shamrock or clover so I thought a St. Patrick's type card was in order...
- I used the sketch from this week's Freshly Made Sketches as inspiration for this card. I colored this little ladybug with the same challenge colors, layered her onto some extra die cuts and then onto a circle die cut from the Stitched Shapes dies. There is a little rhinestone on her shamrock.
- I used the Triple Banner punch to make the gingham banner and embellished it with a little Mint Macaron Sheer Linen Ribbon.
- The greeting is from "Thanks for the Laughs" and is stamped with Call Me Clover on Mint Macaron cardstock. This layer was embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder prior to being layered onto Call Me Clover cardstock and then a Very Vanilla thick card base.
Now I realized that I have a few more Little Ladybug cards to share so I'll have to get back on again soon!
