Happy May Day!
Earlier this morning I sent out a Happy May Day text to my somewhat far flung children, reminding them of their elementary school days when we brought back the idea of leaving small paper baskets of treats - as I had once been taught by my own mother. We started delivering these during the first year in the smaller community and their friends were somewhat baffled by the strange containers of treats that showed up at their front doors. It wasn't long, though, before others started joining in and we kept it going for a few years before they kind of outgrew the idea.
This little bag/May Day basket is sort of a spin off from yesterday's Mother's Day Card.
- Once again I tapped the (Parisian Flourish 3D) embossing folder with my White craft ink pad. I usually tap the inside side with the Stampin' Up Logo. This puts the whitened area in the background. I can imagine that you could switch up your colors of ink and paper to get a "tooled leather" look. I used these since they were in a stash I had done previously. Oftentimes when I get a new folder with will ink it up with white and try it on many different colors before cleaning off the folder. I confess to having quite a stash of these...
- I cut two die cuts with the purse bag die from the Dressed to Impress Bundle. I was a cautious about going over the folds with my bone folder (#102300) before folding since the embossing makes the cardstock a little more fragile.
- You will want to use tear and tape to make sure your bag holds well.
- I decorated my bag with Seaside Spray flowers, also from the Dressed to Impress Bundle. I used the Seaside Spray Combo along with the Night of Navy Light Blends Marker. Other colors were Mango Melody Combo, Soft Seafoam Combo with just a bit of Light Mossy Meadow.
If only I had thought to make a few of these soon enough to mail them off before today!
