I'm looking forward to attending Onstage this coming Saturday. I will gather with other demonstrators from the the Upper Midwest in Milwaukee, WI and get a first peek at the upcoming Annual Catalog 2018-2019. While bringing home the next catalog is the big draw it's not unusual to bring home a little extra loot.
Last year I was lucky enough to bring home Wood Words. Of course the set plays beautifully with the Wood Textures DSP stack and Wood Crate framelits.
On this card I wanted to play with the fun spray of flowers, plus I played around with the combination of Fresh Fig and Sweet Sugarplum.
- Fresh Fig ink on Sweet Sugarplum card stock. Stamp 2-3 times and trim edge.
- Take note of the Fresh Fig Finely Woven Ribbon, Wood Textures DSP, die cut rooster and thank you tag.
- I felt the whitewashed wood space needed a larger greeting than those in the Wood Words set so I pulled out Rose Wonder, which is full of greetings with the most beautiful mixed fonts.
That got me thinking. Actually, it had me thinking for much of the drive home from the North Shore of Lake Superior where we spent Easter weekend. Why don't I take the Rose Wonder stamps out more often? It has such beautiful words along with that gorgeous fine line rose, not to mention its partner, Rose Garden Thinlets. I vowed to get it along with my watercolor pencils and Petal Passion DSP once we were unpacked.
I was this far along this morning when I realized if I wanted to get a few errands done before the snow hit - I had to leave...finished blog post or not!
Did you see what I did with the striped DSP? These are 1/4" strips attached to form a checkered border. I'm just about in Mackenzie-Childs heaven. I've used these strips for a swap card I will blog about later this week. Now I'm down to only about 1/2 sheet left of the stripes so I just used a little on the corner of my card:
- I used the Old Olive and Melon Mambo pencils, coloring lightly with the side of the pencil, applying more pressure only for shading. I also used a little Rich Razzleberry pencil to deepen the shadows of the petals. I did not use a blender or water this time because I liked the way the paper showed through the sketchy coloring.
- Crumb Cake around the edge of the greeting.
- Black and White baker's twine to finish it off.
- Light sponging with Crumb Cake over the checks a la Mackenzie-Childs checks.
Oh yes, before I forget. Believe it or not, I have an April hostess code: TYPDZQEN
All customers who use the hostess code and order $50 or more before tax and shipping will receive a package of linen thread PLUS your choice of Baker's Twine -as long as it remains available. (I can promise you that you will be seeing that Black and White Baker's Twine here again this week! )If you are ordering $150 or more please to do not use the code because you will want to get hostess benefits with your order. Those orders will still qualify for the thread and Baker's Twine gift.
If you didn't stock up yet on the retiring 2016-2018 in-colors, I encourage you to do so soon. Keep in mind that includes card stock, ink refill, marker sets, ribbon and other accessories.
