Today is going to be a busy Wednesday! I'm blog hopping with Around the World on Wednesday AND I'm sharing another great sketch from the Paper Craft Crew.
This month's Around the World On Wednesday theme is the market, specifically focusing on textures at the market. One of the markets I look forward to each year is the outdoor Christmas Market. December in Minnesota is most likely fairly chilly so woolen knit goods and pretty, wintery ornaments are very popular. That and hot drinks!
I started thinking about scarves and sweaters with snowflake designs and wondered if I could combine the Snowflake Wishes dies with the Greenery embossing folder that "might" look like a knit texture...
- I was a little worried about attaching a die cut snowflake on top of cardstock and having the detail hold up as it was embossed. But then I remembered that the big snowflake is really more of a negative design. So it was easy peasy to cut the die pieces out first and then run it through the embossing folder. Didn't the detail hold up well?
- A white embossed greeting and then a little more texture with the Real Red Braided Linen Trim.
Here is a close-up of the texture detail:
That was easy! Then I decided to use the same die again to add some background texture to this week's Paper Craft Crew sketch:
Here's what I came up with:
- I mixed a little Seaside Spray and Whisper White craft refills to get an even softer blue and applied this over a white card base.
- I die cut the same large snowflake out of a separate card front sized piece (5.5" x 4.25") and attached it over the prepared card base.
- This gets even more texture with a square of Seaside Spray embossed with the Winter Snow embossing folder. I lightly sponged a little more white craft ink over these delicate snowflakes to make them pop just a bit more. Add one ore die cut snowflake.
- A little ribbon and a few tiny snowflakes and it's a pretty Hanukkah card. #stampingdiversity
