So Sentimental Get Well Card

We have a very pretty color combination with a challenging dessert option for this week's color challenge. Heather Highland + Gorgeous Grape + Mint Macaron with winter for dessert. Well, I'm sitting here in Minnesota with lots of winter all around me yet now really in the mood to be creative with winter. Winter does, however, mean flu season and I guess that stats are telling us it is widespread in our state right now. So I made a get well card featuring a cup of warm tea. And that cup has a violet on it and the violet is the flower for February and February is in the winter... I hope I'm not cheating!

This is my second So Sentimental card and I've layered the fun greeting shapes on vellum for both of them.
I had a bit of problem solving to do when I wanted to use both the Sending Healing Hugs greeting and the tea cup. They are both similar in size and if I used one of my typical simple, with lots of white space designs I was going to have 2 images of about the same size competing to be my focal point.
So I had to find a way to connect them into one image. I pulled out one of the scalloped rectangle dies that comes with the So Sentimental bundle and this worked perfectly to pull the image and greeting into one focal point.
I'd planned to use some Mint Macaron gingham paper but it was really too busy so I switched it up a bit using this script pattern and I'll continue hoarding my gingham for another project.

This 'n That with Smoky Slate

Time to say goodbye to February. It's been the snowiest February since at least 1885, here in Minnesota. I'm sure that is true for other states too. So, how about saying goodby to it with an all gray and white card? I didn't actually plan it this way but it came together with a few experimental pieces on my desk. Except for the silver thread and metallic dots are pieces that I made to try with other cards but they didn't work out ... until now.

This more or less follows the Global Design Project sketch challenge this week. I added the silver thread for my circle once I realized that most of the other elements were there in one form or another.

Hints:

The Smoky Slate Buffalo Check was something that I really thought was going to work with a Basic Gray piece ... but it didn't. That is a really cool piece of Country Floral too. I'm still looking for the right combination there.
This all started to work a lot better once I put a layer of Whisper White under the vellum.
4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base.
3 1/4" x 4 1/2" vellum: Emboss it before you cut. You may lose pieces when you trim with the somewhat brittle vellum but that will be part of the charm.
3 1/2" x 4 3/4" piece of Whisper White under the vellum. This doesn't need to be thick. I used a part of a card that didn't turn out...

Pink and Gray with Stripes and Dots...

It's Friday! Today's card was inspired by this week's Paper Players' color challenge.

With the all the other new pinks and reds I think Melon Mambo has been a bit ignored so it was good to use some of it on this card.

Both roses from Tea Together were stamped multiple times in Basic Gray on Thick Whisper White cardstock.
I used the Light Smoky Slate blends and the Light Lovely Lipstick Blends (which in my book is closer to Melon Mambo than you can get with the marker). I added just a tiny bit of Dark in the center of the large rose and some shadows.
The roses are cut out with the Spot of Tea Framelits which are one of the Sale-A-Bration selections (free with a $100 order!)
After preparing a Whisper White card base, I created a 2 3/4" x 3
I tied some White Polka Dot Tulle ribbon around the seam so that the bow is pretty much off to the side so that I had room to add the flowers on the left side.
The panel is adhered to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
A small greeting from Itty Bitty Greetings is perfect stamped about 1/4" or so below the panel.
A few Glitter Enamel Dots in Melon Mambo finish it off beautifully.

It's Time for a Little Tea Together

I have a couple of cards with the Tea Together set, from the Occasions catalog, to share with you today. Both of them also use the Tea Time framelits which are available for free when you place a $100 order before tax and shipping during Sale-A-Bration. Sale-A-Bration runs through March 2019. Aren't these adorable?

This first card is one we made at my recent downline Make and Take. It features the teapot and cup with little roses stamped onto both the pot and cup.
Use a top fold portrait card so that you can tie a ribbon around the base. (11" x 4 1/4" scored and folded at 5 1/2")
Emboss a 6" x 6" piece of Whisper White with the Lace embossing folder and trim down to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece, centering the lace as you see fit.
Blends colors are Petal Pink Combo, Pumpkin Pie, Balmy Blue light, Mint Macaron and a little bit of Mango Meody Dark in the flower centers.
Even though the leaves and the scallop oval are Mint Macaron, I think it works just fine to use the shimmery Pool Party ribbon. It's as though it picks up light in such a way that you can fool the eye into thinking that it is pretty close to Mint Macaron. Tuck that idea away until you need it...
The get well greeting is from Itty Bitty Greetings and seems to fit well with tea card.

My next card shows how lovely the flowers are without even using the teacup or pot.

The Swirly Frames are a great accent to almost any stamp set. Contemporary, classic, whimsical ... it will work with them all. I trimmed this down after stamping it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a 1/4 sheet of Whisper White. I colored them slightly with the light Mossy Meadow Blends.
The darling roses were colored with Flirty Flamingo and Mossy Meadow Blends Combos. They are especially easy to cut out with the coordinating dies which are part of the Tea Time framelits.
I used a wonderful thank you message from All Things Thanks. This would be perfect for a wedding thank you or some other marriage related thank you, special neighbors or family members.
