We have a really special blog hop for you this month. Our theme is Changing Seasons. If you've hopped with this group before you realize that we are demonstrators all over the world and in both hemispheres. While we all tend to think of seasons as they change in our little piece of the world I think it will be wonderful to get a taste of what those who live in other places see. As all of our themes go we have artistic license to interpret this in anyway we see fit.
As soon as I looked at this month's theme I knew I had my excuse for having a little play time with Beauty of Tomorrow - doesn't that name alone sound like changing seasons? Though I held off getting this bundle until I could get the coordinating Blackberry Beauty specialty designer paper with it, You can see that you certainly don't need the DSP to designer quality cards with these stamps and dies.
Sometimes when I see a lot of cards made with a suite that has stamps and DSP I feel like it is hard to come up with my own style. So, for this first card, I chose different colors than the DSP to help me create in a new direction. Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather.
- All stamping is done with Mossy Meadow. I used the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder to texture the greeting layer.
- I inserted a strip of color block stripes. I actually made a quarter sheet of these stripes with 3/8" strips of my 5 colors. You can vary this any way you want.
- The little sprays of wildflowers are also stamped with Mossy Meadow and colored with Night of Navy, Highland Heather and Old Olive Blends - all of them in the lighter versions.
- Add a few oak leaves and Voila!
- I'm getting ready to head out on a vacation AND celebrate our 36th anniversary later this week. When you really think about this greeting makes a wonderful fall anniversary card.
- I guess I was going for lots of texture with this card: Die cut oak leaves over the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.
- More Scalloped Lace...
- That skinny strip of gold foiled DSP is layered over a clear embossed piece of gold shimmer vellum. The images are the same Beauty of Tomorrow images that were die cut and colored in the previous card. HINT: Adhere the DSP strip over the vellum. Then you just add a little more on the vellum that is covered by DSP so that it won't show through the vellum.
- Silly me! I tried blending some Rich Razzleberry ink over the clear embossing to help it pop. On the gold vellum it ended up looking exactly like Cinnamon Cider. So, if you want this look - just go ahead and start with the Cinnamon Cider!
- The gold foil daisies come from the Blackberry Beauty Ephemera pack.
- Follow your dreams is a greeting from the Through it Together stamp set. A very useful set, I might add!
And now its time to check out what the rest of our group has been up to!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
